Black
Sox,
We have yet another big game vs. the
Saturn Ions July 13, 1 pm, at UC HS. At 12-2, the Ions
are clearly one of the elite clubs in our division.
If we want to establish ourselves as such, it would
be a good idea to beat them.
The following week (6/20) we have
a double header vs. the Orioles and Bandits (39+ AAA).
I need to know ASAP if anyone is going to have trouble
making these games.
Welcome Aboard Mo!
Maurice "Mo" Wrighten has
accepted an offer to play with the Black Sox for the
remainder of the season and, hopefully, beyond. Please
join me in welcoming Mo to the club.
7/4 Tourney Recap
Although 0-4 in the tournament, the
Misfits were competitive in all games and put a good
scare into the undefeated pool champions in our final
game before flaming out 14-8.
6/30 Recap
Guys, I don’t know about you
but I am drained. I’m not too tired to write though;
I’m almost never too tired to write… Final
score was a 19-14 win, although the record will (incorrectly)
have the game at 17-14. Enough said about that. I’m
not sure how many more of these roller-coaster affairs
I can handle. Why can’t we just beat anybody easy???
Still a win is a win, is a win, etc.
Highlights:
• Everyone on the team
got a hit… I believe this is the first
time this has happened all season. Top to bottom, we
hit. That’s how you get 19 runs in a game. Yes,
19 dammit! (OK, I’m really done now).
• Phil –
4 for 5 including a big single to knock in two insurance
runs in the 8th inning.
• Jim M. –
3 for 4 (on-base 4 for 5).
• Lance –
2 for 4 including a MONSTER triple in the top of the
8th to start a 7-run rally. Lance was also big in relief,
holding the Cubbies to just a single unearned run over
the last two innings.
• Pedro, Mike
Gross, Jim W., and MO
all chipped in for 2 hits each.
• Nestor –
on base 2 for 5 including a big three run triple.
• Bob Ambrose
– Last, but definitely not least, Bob gave us
one of the quality starts of the season, going 6 1/3
innings before yielding to Lance. Bob also got on-base
in both of his at-bats. I’m going to sound like
a broken record but WE’VE GOT TO START GIVING
OUR PITCHERS BETTER SUPPORT ON DEFENSE… This is
a second straight, really sub-par defensive outing.
Bob deserved a 19-3 complete game victory. We are better
than we have played the past two weeks.
