Black Sox,

We have yet another big game vs. the Saturn Ions July 13, 1 pm, at UC HS. At 12-2, the Ions are clearly one of the elite clubs in our division. If we want to establish ourselves as such, it would be a good idea to beat them.

The following week (6/20) we have a double header vs. the Orioles and Bandits (39+ AAA). I need to know ASAP if anyone is going to have trouble making these games.

Welcome Aboard Mo!

Maurice "Mo" Wrighten has accepted an offer to play with the Black Sox for the remainder of the season and, hopefully, beyond. Please join me in welcoming Mo to the club.

7/4 Tourney Recap

Although 0-4 in the tournament, the Misfits were competitive in all games and put a good scare into the undefeated pool champions in our final game before flaming out 14-8.

6/30 Recap

Guys, I don’t know about you but I am drained. I’m not too tired to write though; I’m almost never too tired to write… Final score was a 19-14 win, although the record will (incorrectly) have the game at 17-14. Enough said about that. I’m not sure how many more of these roller-coaster affairs I can handle. Why can’t we just beat anybody easy??? Still a win is a win, is a win, etc.

Highlights:

Everyone on the team got a hit… I believe this is the first time this has happened all season. Top to bottom, we hit. That’s how you get 19 runs in a game. Yes, 19 dammit! (OK, I’m really done now).

Phil – 4 for 5 including a big single to knock in two insurance runs in the 8th inning.

Jim M. – 3 for 4 (on-base 4 for 5).

Lance – 2 for 4 including a MONSTER triple in the top of the 8th to start a 7-run rally. Lance was also big in relief, holding the Cubbies to just a single unearned run over the last two innings.

Pedro, Mike Gross, Jim W., and MO all chipped in for 2 hits each.

Nestor – on base 2 for 5 including a big three run triple.

Bob Ambrose – Last, but definitely not least, Bob gave us one of the quality starts of the season, going 6 1/3 innings before yielding to Lance. Bob also got on-base in both of his at-bats. I’m going to sound like a broken record but WE’VE GOT TO START GIVING OUR PITCHERS BETTER SUPPORT ON DEFENSE… This is a second straight, really sub-par defensive outing. Bob deserved a 19-3 complete game victory. We are better than we have played the past two weeks.
