As expected, yesterday’s sweep gave us fourth place in the SDABL 29A division with a final record of 11-6.

We have gone 9-2 since starting the season 2-4. We all have reason to be proud of a really good finish and the way we have come together as a new team.

Playoffs Game 1

The first game of the Playoffs has been posted on the website. We will be playing the South Coast Padres Sunday, July 27, 2 pm at Eastlake High. The Padres had an up-and-down season this year playing poorly at times (they lost to the 39aaa Bandits, who we just beat) but have played well the last three games, beating the Orioles, Cubbies, and SD A’s.

In our regular meeting, we beat the Padres 11-4 June 1 at Sweetwater high.

Highlights Game 1 – 12-3 vs. Orioles

Surprisingly, we got only 9 hits in the game but 13 walks to run up the score a bit. Good pitching and defense for the entire game.

Bob Ambrose – 1 run (unearned) over 6 innings. Just an outstanding performance from Bob, one of the best of the year for us. Bob also got on base 3 for 5.

Steve P. – 3 for 3 (double), on-base 5 for 5, scored 3 runs. Just another day at the office.

Lance – on-base 3 for 5

Mo – 2 for 3, on-base 3 for 4, plus a monster home run to cap off a “Babe Ruth-like” performance complete with massive hangover.

Jim McGaha – on-base 3 for 5.

Phil and Mike Gross – pitched well in relief.

Highlights Game 2 – 9-4 vs. Bandits

We again got good pitching and played good enough defense to win. We also got 15 hits.

Jim W. pitched 6 strong innings to pick up the win. As previously noted, Jim looked “mahhhvelous” out on the mound in his skin-tight black spandex pants.

Pedro – 4 for 5 (double) and a stolen base to the delight of a strong family contingent who came out to support him.

Steve P., Jim W., Jim M., Dan, each had 2 hits.

Lance pitched 3 strong innings of relief and capped off a great day with a home run in the 9th inning as an added bonus for his fans.
