good finish and the way we have come together as a new
team.
Playoffs Game 1
The first game of the Playoffs has
been posted on the website. We will be playing the South
Coast Padres Sunday, July 27, 2 pm at Eastlake High.
The Padres had an up-and-down season this year playing
poorly at times (they lost to the 39aaa Bandits, who
we just beat) but have played well the last three games,
beating the Orioles, Cubbies, and SD A’s.
In our regular meeting, we beat the
Padres 11-4 June 1 at Sweetwater high.
Recap 7/20
Highlights Game 1 –
12-3 vs. Orioles
Surprisingly, we got only 9 hits in
the game but 13 walks to run up the score a bit. Good
pitching and defense for the entire game.
• Bob Ambrose
– 1 run (unearned) over 6 innings. Just an outstanding
performance from Bob, one of the best of the year for
us. Bob also got on base 3 for 5.
• Steve P.
– 3 for 3 (double), on-base 5 for 5, scored 3
runs. Just another day at the office.
• Lance –
on-base 3 for 5
• Mo –
2 for 3, on-base 3 for 4, plus a monster home run to
cap off a “Babe Ruth-like” performance complete
with massive hangover.
• Jim McGaha –
on-base 3 for 5.
• Phil and
Mike Gross – pitched well in
relief.
Highlights Game 2 –
9-4 vs. Bandits
We again got good pitching and played
good enough defense to win. We also got 15 hits.
• Jim W. pitched
6 strong innings to pick up the win. As previously noted,
Jim looked “mahhhvelous” out on the mound
in his skin-tight black spandex pants.
• Pedro –
4 for 5 (double) and a stolen base to the delight of
a strong family contingent who came out to support him.
• Steve P., Jim W.,
Jim M., Dan, each had 2 hits.
• Lance pitched
3 strong innings of relief and capped off a great day
with a home run in the 9th inning as an added bonus
for his fans.
