Beat Sox
The Pirates handed
the Black Sox our 7th loss in last 8 games 11-9.
Again, there were some good individual performances
in a disappointing defeat as an 8th inning rally
came up short.
Highlights
- Hitting
- We had 16 hits and only 4 strikeouts. Steve,
(2/4, HBP), Rey (2/3, BB),
Chad (2/4, 2 doubles), Mike
Gray (2/4), Jonathan
(1/2, BB, HBP) and Lance (3/4,
double) all had good days at the plate.
- Pitching
- Chad pitched 5 strong innings
but, once again, was victimized by bad luck
as a bad bounce on what would have been an inning-ending
double-play ball cost us 5 runs in the fourth
inning. Lance pitched 4 strong
innings in relief.
Lowlights
- The "Breaks"
- As in, we just can't buy one. As
mentioned before, a bad bounce led to five of
the Pirates 11 runs. Another ball took a wicked
hop at second late in the game. On the other
hand, it seemed like every ball we hit in the
infield bounced right to somebody. It is just
not our season... I truly believe we are a much
better team than our record would indicate.
All-Star

- Dan Darrin (5)
