You are killing me, Mo. Please make good on your promise to come back for our next game. I am running out of "No 'Mo'" headlines to describe how well we are playing in your absence.

Once again, Black Sox: Nice work. This is our third "run-rule" win in the past four games where we only got to bat 6 times. We have now scored 22, 20, 16, and 20 runs in the last four games and the last two have been against pretty good pitching.

Highlights

  • Pitching - Bob was excellent for the first three innings, working out of a bases loaded jam in the second and leaving the game with a 15-0 lead. Bob was also 1/2 at the plate and is hitting the ball with authority.
  • Defense - we only had one error on a day where a lot of guys played different positions.
  • Hitting - For a fourth straight game, our hitting was exceptional. We strung together 17 hits and 9 free passes (walks + HBP) against some of the better pitching we've faced. Every Black Sox except Mike Gross got a base hit today. Just kidding Mike, every Black Sox got at least one hit today, including Lance who went 1/1 with a broken back.
  • Individual Hitting Highlights:
    • Nestor- reached base 4/5 with 3 hits and 1 BB.
    • Jonathan - was money again, reaching base all 4 times - 1/1 with 3 HBP - our first ever "hat trick" in that department. Way to get that "monkey" off your back Jonathan. The team record for HBPs appears to be a "lock" at this early juncture.
    • Steve P - On base 4/5 with another in-the-park round trip. Steve also threw out a batter from right field.
    • Jim Wetzel - reached base 3/5 for a second consecutive week.
    • Phil- 3/5.
    • Rey - hit 2/3 and reached base 3/4. Rey also did a really nice job in his first work at first base.
    • My apologies if I left anyone out. It was a TOTAL team. effort and you guys were AWESOME for a third straight week.

Lowlights

I can no longer brag about being the only Black Sox not to strikeout this season after getting beat by the Bombers starter in the first inning. No excuses, the guy threw me a couple of great breaking balls. In all though, we only struck out four times.

It bears repeating: If we can continue hitting like this, no-one in this league is going to be able to run with us. No-one. It is pretty hard to beat 20-runs a game. I am glad I don't have to game-plan against this lineup.

Looking Forward

Next week we are off for Easter. The following week we play SDEC, who have rebounded from a slow start to get a big win over the Orioles today. I'll send out game info later.
